Hello, learners! Let’s look at the grammar points to describe your past, present and future activities using ところ.
1. Verb TA-form (past tense) + ところ
To have just done something
昼ごはんを食べたところです。
/hirugohan o tabeta tokoro desu/
I just finished my lunch.
2. Verb TEIRU-form (present continuous) + ところ
Doing something, in the middle of doing something
昼ごはんを食べているところです。
/hirugohan o tabeteiru tokoro desu/
I am eating lunch now.
3. Verb dictionary form + ところ
Just about to do something
昼ごはんを食べるところです。
/hirugohan wo taberu tokoro desu/
I am just about to eat lunch.

– I’m about to eat breakfast now.
そうなんだ。今日も天気が良いね。
/soonanda. kyoo mo tenki ga iine/
– I see. The weather is good today, too, isn’t it?
