日本にほんには毎年まいとし、6〜7がつ梅雨つゆばれるあめ季節きせつがあります。あめつづいてジメジメした天気てんきで、気分きぶんれない季節きせつではありますが、綺麗きれい紫陽花あじさい時期じきでもあります。紫陽花あじさいは、れているときよりもあめれているときほううつくしいですよね。

Today, I will talk about the onomatopoeia for rain. We can describe from light rain to heavy rain.

あめが________っています。/ame ga _______ futte imasu/ 

ぽつぽつ /potsu-potsu/ Drops of rain, usually used when it has just started raining.

ぱらぱら /para-para/ Drops of rain, like potsu-potsu, this is also often used when it has just started raining, but slightly in bigger drops. Resembles the sound of rain hitting an umbrella, roof, etc.

しとしと /shito-shito/ Continuous, quiet, light rain. Drizzling.

ざあざあ /zaa-zaa/ Pouring down.
