Over time, I have been developing a few different formats for supporting serious learners—especially upper-intermediate and advanced students who want to sound more natural and fluent.
If you have been following along and feel like your Japanese is “stuck” at the same level, or you want more structured practice, here are the main ways I can help.
3 WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER
❶ Weekly paid lesson (Substack)
If you prefer a structured weekly routine, my paid Substack subscription gives you:
- A weekly audio lesson (I speak in Japanese; CC available on YouTube)
- Full transcript + nuanced English translation + detailed notes
- Practice with prompts—share your comments, opinions, and experiences, and interact directly with me
- Access to all past paid lessons
Price: $8/month or $80/year.

❷ Async speaking feedback (email only)
This is for you if you want regular speaking practice but don’t have time (or desire) for live calls.
How it works:
- You record short 1–2 minute tasks (self-intro, opinions, daily life, work scenarios, etc.) and send them by email as MP3 or a Drive link.
- Within 48 hours on weekdays, I reply with:
- Voice feedback (audio file)
- Written corrections + natural phrases
- Optional model answer audio
Packages:
- 4 tasks – $50
- 8 tasks – $95
Not sure if a package is right for you yet? I also offer a one-off speaking diagnostic ($25). You send one 2–3 minute recording, and I send back detailed voice feedback + written notes with your top 3 focus areas and some natural phrases to try. It’s a low-commitment way to experience my async feedback!
❸ Live 1:1 lessons (limited, flexible)
For learners who want focused conversation practice with a specialist teacher:
- $30/hour
- Monthly packages: 4 or 8 lessons
- Scheduled Mon–Fri, 10:00–16:00 JST
- Clear cancellation/reschedule policy (at least 12 hours’ notice)
These slots are limited and best for learners who can handle occasional rescheduling and prefer deep, tailored sessions.
NOT SURE WHICH OPTION FITS?

- Your current level in Japanese
- Your main goal (e.g. more natural speaking, prep for work, daily life in Japan, etc.)
- Whether you prefer something async (no calls) or are open to live lessons
I will suggest a starting point—whether that’s the one-off diagnostic, an async package, the weekly lesson, or live 1:1.

A NOTE ON TIMING
